Memorial services for Las Animas, Colorado resident, Leon Hooser, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Fort Lyon National Cemetery. Inurnment will follow with military committal rites provided by Las Animas VFW Post#241 1 and American Legion Post#1. Pastor Ken West will officiate.
Leon Loyd Hooser was born March 15, 1943 in Natural Dam, Arkansas to William and Ada (Russell) Hooser. Leon departed this physical world on September 25, 2014 at his home in Las Animas, surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 71.
Leon was an amazing man, father, husband, whom was adored and loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He married the love of his life, Barbara R. Stonebarger, on August 15, 1964. To this union, one son and four daughters were born.
Leon is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Hooser of Las Animas; his brother, Ray Hooser; his son, Micheal Hooser; his four daughters, Amy Davis, June Pettit, Shiela Kallert, Lisa Smith; as well as their significant others, Roy Davis, John Pettit, Jimmy Doser, Marty Hooser, and Sabine Neuner. Leon had 9 grandchildren, Holly Pettit, John-Micheal Pettit, Breanna Pettit, Joshua Smith, Megan Peare, Trevor Smith, Riley Davis, Jake Davis, Gracie Davis; 6 great grandchildren, Nathan, Jamie, Jaden, Caseson, Ariana, Summer; many other relatives; and a host of friends.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters, Ruby, Ruth, Mary Ruth; 5 brothers, Paul, William, Russell, James, and Marvin.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Leon’s sister-in-law, Laura Garner. He truly loved you Laura, and loved having you by his side. Thank you to all of the extended family from Las Animas who loved and cared for “Papa Hooser”, including, Edith, Jerry, Devon, Reyna, Ryan, and Noah.
