Jason W. Japhet…December 18, 1977 – September 22, 2014

Funeral services for Jason W. Japhet will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the Las Animas High School Gymnasium in Las Animas, Colorado.  Cliff Smart will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Bent/Las Animas Cemetery.

Jason Wayne Japhet was born on December 18, 1977 in Eads, Colorado to Ivan W. and Beverly A. (Holcomb) Japhet.  He passed away on September 22, 2014 at his residence in Las Animas at the age of 36.

eputy sheriff Jason took over the helm of the Bent County Ambulance Service in Las Animas, Colorado and just recently received his certification as a Paramedic.Jason began his fire and EMS career as a volunteer for the Lamar Fire and Ambulance Service over 14 years ago.After spending time as a jailer for the Prowers County Sheriff’s Department in Lamar, a deputy sheriff for the Bent County Sheriff’s Department, he then became a reserve police officer with the Las Animas Police Department. Jason then took over as the director of the Bent County Ambulance Service and became a reserve deputy sheriff for the Bent County Sheriff’s Department. He just recently received his Paramedic certification. eputy sheriff Jason took over the helm of the Bent County Ambulance Service in Las Animas, Colorado and just recently received his certification as a Paramedic.  Jason served on the Fire Department in Lamar, and Eads and as a Paramedic in Las Animas.

He is survived by his wife, Nichole (Greer) Japhet; children, Alyssa, Jayla, Logan, and Monique; mother and step father, Beverly and David Lyon of Eads, CO;  sister, Kimberley Munson of Oklahoma; nephews, Brodie and Avery Snover; many other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ivan Japhet.
