Enedina Aquilera-Perez, better known as “Nancy” is this year’s Wiley Hay Days Queen. Born May 14, 1933, Nancy attended Wiley Schools through the 9th grade before working at the Wiley Café. She married her late husband, Benjamin Perez in 1953. He was employed at National Alfalfa Milling and Ark Valley Alfalfa Milling before passing away in 1981.
The family had nine children, all graduating from Wiley High School and then creating their own families, giving Nancy 33 grandchildren (including step children) and 11 great-grandchildren. She began babysitting for other couples in the mid 1960s, by last count, over 100 children from Wiley families have been in her care. She retired just this year from looking after all these kids and she just recently celebrated her 81st birthday with her family.
Many thanks to family and friends for the many years of support and thanks for the honor of representing Wiley as the 2014 Wiley Hay Days Queen.
