Meet the Candidates Forum for Prowers County Primary

ballot Box

Voices of Southeast Colorado will host a Meet the Candidates night on Thursday, May 29 at 7pm at the Lamar Cultural Events Center.

A June 24, 2014 primary election will be held to determine which local candidates for Prowers County Sheriff and Prowers County Commissioner will be placed on the ballot for the November General Election.

The evening will allow local voters an opportunity to meet with and ask questions of the candidates vying for the two open positions.

Two candidates are running for Prowers County Commissioner, District 2; Joe Marble is the incumbent and Ron Cook is running against him, with both on the Republican ticket.

Prowers County Sheriff Jim Faull indicated several months ago that he would not seek re-election to the office which opened the door for as many as five candidates, originally.  Each of the three candidates invited to the forum are all employed in the Sheriff’s Department.  They are:  Undersheriff Ron Trowbridge and Sam Zordel, Senior Deputy/Patrol Sergeant.  Both candidates are on the Republican ticket. The third candidate is Ron Manly, Senior Deputy and Assistant Jail Administrator.  Manly is an unaffiliated candidate and will not be affected by the outcome of the primary.  He will appear on the ballot for the November general election, facing either Zordel or Trowbridge, whoever wins the June 24 primary election.
