Lamar Community College CNA Program Holds Spring Celebration

CNA Program(Lamar, Colorado, April 16, 2014) Lamar Community College’s Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) Program held their spring celebration on the evening of Thursday, April 10. 8 students successfully complete the 10-week certificate this spring. The students now qualify to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) exam.

There is no better way to start a health care career than as a CNA. As a CNA there is much time spent really getting to know the patient. There is a more personal relationship developed because the CNA is involved in almost every aspect of the patient’s care and day to day life. There is more to being a CNA than just assisting with daily care, CNA’s are kind, compassionate, and patient. The students that go through the CNA program at LCC will be prepared to take the state licensure exam and be confident in their skills. LCC’s nurse aide program has been very successful in graduating quality nurse aides and many of these graduates are now employed at various local facilities.

LCC’s CNA program offers courses most semesters. This summer’s session begins on May 6. For the first time scholarship money is available through the Kaiser Permanente Scholarship. Funding for tuition and fees is also available through Lamar’s workforce center for those who qualify. More information on the scholarship can be found at Those interested in enrolling in the summer session are encouraged to contact Sarah Aguillera at 719.336.1595 or
