Boat Ramps Open at John Martin Reservoir State Park

Lake Shore John MartinHASTY, Colo. – It’s time to get back out on the water! John Martin Reservoir will be opening its east and west boat ramps for the summer season Saturday, March 15.

Water levels at the lake are significantly higher this year than they have been in the past at this time, allowing us to open the west boat ramp which was closed all of the 2013 season. More water also means more room for people to enjoy fishing, boating and other recreation on the reservoir.

Anglers can find luck with wiper, walleye and catfish, and bird watchers can still spot bald and golden eagles. The north shore waterfowl closure will also be lifted on the 15th, giving visitors the opportunity to enjoy the remainder of the current seasons.

Please make sure that all of your licenses and registrations are up to date. Current boat registrations, fishing and hunting licenses and annual parks passes for 2014 are all on sale now and can be purchased at our Visitor’s Center.

Please remember to be safe and responsible while you enjoy the many recreational opportunities we have to offer at John Martin. We look forward to seeing you this summer!
