Several Lamar Chamber board members and Honkers made a visit to the new Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) / Farm Service Agency (FSA) building offices during the dedication of the new building on February 13, 2014. In attendance at the dedication were contractors Tress and Dustin Langston and Mark Carrigan along with employees from each agency. Scott Brase and crew were happy to show off the new facility and serve up some nice sweet treats.
The agencies relocated from their old offices at 3501 South Main to the new location at 1501 South Main in Lamar on November 18th, 2013. NRCS Office hours are weekdays 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM and closed on weekends and the FSA Office Hours are weekdays 8 am to 4:30 PM.
FSA
The Farm Service Agency (FSA) is the USDA agency into which were merged several predecessor agencies, including the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS). The ASCS was, as the FSA is now, primarily tasked with the implementation of farm conservation and regulation laws around the country. To learn more about FSA and its services to rural America, please visit their website at: www.fsa.usda.gov.
NRCS
NRCS conservationists provide technical expertise and conservation planning for farmers, ranchers and forest landowners wanting to make conservation improvements to their land. They also provide incentives to farmers, ranchers and forest landowners wanting to put wetlands, agricultural land, grasslands and forests under long-term easements. NRCS offers a variety of information, tools, and resources related to conservation.
NRCS helps America’s farmers, ranchers and forest landowners conserve the nation’s soil, water, air and other natural resources. All programs are voluntary and offer science-based solutions that benefit both the landowner and the environment.
