Helen Louise (Cooper) Ausbun, age 87, passed away and went to be with the Lord on January 30, 2014, in Syracuse, Kansas.
Helen was born May 14, 1926, in Bethany Oklahoma to Howard Clifford Cooper and Margaret Cecile (Garmon) Cooper. On October 12, 1947, she married Harold William Ausbun in Hugoton, Kansas. This union produced 2 surviving children, Ronald Harold Ausbun and Margaret Susan Ausbun. Over the years, Helen and her family resided in different states including Kansas, Indiana, Texas, Colorado, and Missouri. Helen and Harold were administrators of Bronnenburg Children’s Home in Anderson, Indiana, in the past, and pastored the Lamar First Church of God in Lamar, Colorado, for 14 years. At other times, Helen was a seamstress, school kitchen worker, homemaker, and loved life, family, and friends. Helen was known for her great faith in God, and her dedication to her Christianity, husband, family, and those she knew and loved.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Margaret Cooper; her husband of 61 years and 5 months, Harold William Ausbun, who passed away on March 13, 2009; and 2 daughters; Patricia Carol and Sandra Kay Ausbun.
Survivors include one brother: Bill (Shirley) Cooper of Wichita, Kansas; a son, Ronald Harold (Sharon) Ausbun, of Lafayette, Indiana; a daughter, Margaret Susan Ausbun, of Lamar, Colorado; 3 grandchildren: Amber Marie (Brian) Yeagey, of Lafayette, Indiana; Marla Suzanne (David) Hicks of Syracuse, Kansas; and Daniel Harold (Megan) Ausbun, of Lamar, Colorado; 4 great-grandchildren: Colten Joshua “CJ” and Andrew Yeagey, of Lafayette, Indiana; and Nathan and Bethany Hicks of Syracuse, Kansas. Helen is also survived by other cousins, nieces, nephews and relatives.
Services for Helen Ausbun were held at the Hugoton Church of God on February 4, 2014, at 2:00 PM. Burial followed the service at the Hugoton, Kansas, cemetery.
