Deadline Approaching to Order Windbreak Trees

Spring is almost here and it’s time to begin planning spring planting projects.  The Colorado State University Extension Offices in the Southeast Area are wrapping up the 2013 -14 seedling tree program.  We have a wide variety of windbreak trees still available to order from your local Colorado State University Extension Office.  The trees enable farmers, ranchers, and rural landowners to obtain trees at nominal cost.  Landowners with one or more acres of land are eligible for the seedling trees grown and delivered by the Colorado State Forest Service.   

The seedling tree program provides both bare-rooted and potted trees and shrubs.  Bare-root trees are sold in lots of 25 seedlings and potted trees are sold in lots of 30 tubes or 50 per tray depending on the species. 

The last date to order trees from the Extension Office is Monday, March 10, 2014, and that date is approaching fast!  The low-cost windbreak trees will be available for pickup after March 25th at the Extension Office.   

Several tree species are already sold out, they include: Bare Root Caragana, Honeylocust, and Lanceleaf Cottonwood; Large Tube Rocky Mountain Juniper, Fourwing Salt Bush, Thin Leaf Alder, and Mountain Mahogany; Small Tubes of the Rocky Mountain Juniper; and Extra Large Potted Ponderosa Pine.
