Cecilia M. Gallegos…March 6, 1927 – October 22, 2013

                Mass of Christian burial for former Las Animas, Colorado resident Cecilia Gallegos will be held on Friday, October 25, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Las Animas, CO.  Interment will follow at Bent/Las Animas Cemetery.  Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. Visitation for Cecilia will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2013 from 9 – 4 p.m. at Horber Funeral Chapel.

            Cecilia Marie (Gonzales) Gallegos was born March 6, 1927 on the Gonzales Ranch in San Miguel County, New Mexico to Julian and Ramoncita (Lavato) Gonzales.  She married Carlos Gallegos on November 14, 1945.  Cecilia was very active in the Catholic Church.  She had a very big heart and always put others before herself.  She was involved in the activities of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Cecilia passed away at her daughter’s home in Commerce City, CO on October 22, 2013 at the age of 86.

            Cecilia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carlos Gallegos; son, Johnny Gallegos; daughter, Theresa Valdez; granddaughter, Sally Gallegos; grandson, Michael Gallegos; great granddaughter, Zevadia Gomes; four sisters and one brother.

            She is survived by five children, Joe (Frances) Gallegos of Las Animas, CO, Annie (Andrew) Lopez of Belen, NM, Georgia (Ernest) Madrid of Pueblo, CO, Lorraine (William Sr.) Maddock of Commerce City, CO, and Leo (Betty Gonzalez) Gallegos of Las Animas, CO; 21 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends.
