Stephenson comes to Lamar Community College from Highland Community College, where he was the assistant volleyball coach and wellness center assistant. Under Stephenson’s leadership, the lady Scotties saw success on the court and in the classroom. In several matches the Lady Scotties had double digits in both blocks and kills.

Before going to Highland, Stephenson was the assistant volleyball coach at Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, TX. While there, he handled the teams conditioning, recruiting, and was in charge of the defense and setters. Stephenson also spent time at Bethany College (KS), where he was a volunteer volleyball coach and recruiting coordinator for the 2011 spring season.

Stephenson graduated from Salina Central High School (KS) in 2002. He was an All-Class, All-State Top 11 offensive lineman. Stephenson attended Coffeyville Community College (KS) and was a two-time first team all-conference offensive lineman and was also a pre-season All-American his sophomore year. After Coffeyville Coach Stephenson attended the University of Nebraska-Kearney, where he was riddled with injuries and transferred to McPherson College.

While at McPherson, Stephenson became the student coach for the volleyball team and was in charge of the strength program. After two seasons, Stephenson transferred to Kansas Wesleyan University, where he graduated with a degree in physical education and minors in secondary health and coaching. Coach Stephenson received his masters in coaching education from Ohio University in spring 2013.

He has coached club volleyball since 2005, coaching the 15U-18U teams in Kansas.

LCC Athletic Director, Craig Brooks, stated, “I am excited for Coach Stephenson to begin a new chapter here at LCC with our women’s volleyball team. Coach Stephenson comes from a long line of volleyball coaches within his family and in a short amount of time has shown his drive and dedication to detail. I am happy to have him become a member of our coaching staff here at LCC”.

“I am excited to be joining the Runnin’ Lopes family,” says Stephenson. “I am grateful for this opportunity, and I thank the administration at Lamar, along with the players and the search committee for supporting me and believing in my vision for the volleyball program. We have a lot to accomplish in the coming months, but the returning players and our new recruits are up for the challenge.”
