Alan Carter…December 15, 1949 – August 7, 2013

 

A Celebration of Life for longtime Abilene, KS resident formerly of Oakley, KS will be held at 10:00AM, Monday, August 12, 2013 at the Peacock Family Chapel with Pastor Bob Kelley of the United Christian Church in Oakley, KS. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Lamar. 

Per Alan’s request there will be no visitation.           

Alan was born on December 15, 1949 at La Junta, CO to Delbert and Velma (Cook) Carter and passed away on August 7, 2013 at Salina, Kansas with his family by his side at the age of 63. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law; Otto Schwanz and brother-in-law; Paul Schwanz.  

Alan is survived by his wife; Linda of the family home in Abilene, KS, daughter; Joslyn (Mark) Elpers of Shawnee, KS, son; Cody (Megan) Carter of Gardner, KS; grandchildren; Sydney and Katie Elpers of Shawnee, KS, sister; Kaye Ellen ( Tom) VanHee of Fowler, CO, and brother; James (Libby) Carter of Billings, MT. He is also survived by his mother-in-law; Cora Schwanz of rural Lamar, brother-in-law; Gary Schwanz of Cheyenne Wells, CO, sister-in-law; Cheryl (Greg) Schmitt of Edgewood, NM and sister-in-law; Carol Doyle of Madera, CA as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family and a host of friends.  

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Peacock Funeral Home and/or Oakley United Christian Church either direct or in care of the funeral home office.
