Memorial services for Elsie Howland will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 5, at the United Methodist Church in Las Animas, Colorado.
Elsie Lee (Perkins) Howland, 80, passed away on June 28, 2013, at her home in Syracuse, Kansas. She was born in Lamar, CO on August 8, 1932 to Sam and Sarah Inez (Harp) Perkins.
Elsie was united in marriage to William “Bill” Francis Howland on May 8, 1958, in Lamar, Colorado. They spent the beginning of their lives with their two children, Terry and Cheryl Howland, in Holly, Colorado. In 1978, they moved to Las Animas until 2006.
For over 30 years, Elsie sold AVON. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and Women‘s Auxiliary, and served on several city boards. Her kind and generous spirit was a part of the Las Animas community and she volunteered hours and gifts to the Bent County Nursing Home.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Jamie Jones and great granddaughter, Jorja both of the family home. Elsie is also survived by her son, Terry (Debbie) Howland of Holly, and a daughter, Cheryl Jones of Parker, Colorado; grandchildren, Brandy (Garret) Pfalmer, Tera (Curt) Bender, Trent (Desiree) Howland and Tami Howland; great grandchildren, Tatum, Luke, Quaid, and Crew Pfalmer; Logan and Haley Bender; and Sydnee and Sierra Howland.
Elsie is preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, Bill Howland; her parents; and sister, Peggy Marriot.
