Olan L. McCarty, of Long Lane, Missouri, formerly of Lamar, passed away suddenly on Monday, May 27, 2013.  Olan, son of Reginald and Nada McCarty, was born April 19, 1955 in Walsh, CO.  He moved to Lamar with his family in 1966 and graduated from Lamar High School in 1973.  He wrestled for Lamar High School for several years and won the State Heavyweight Wrestling Title in 1973.  Olan was married to Deborah Culbertson in 1984 and lived in Lamar.   About 22 years ago Olan moved to Missouri and established a farm there, raising cattle.

Olan is survived by his long time companion, Kimberly Evel, of Long Lane, MO, son Brandon, of Oklahoma City, OK, daughter Ayla and son-in-law Adam Kuil, of York, Nebraska, brother Oran (and Leona) McCarty of Lamar, sisters Flora McCarty, of Aurora, CO and Eunice Weatherford, of Pueblo, CO and nieces and nephews: Arden, Julie and Greg Weatherford; Mark, Sherri (Hitchings) and Debbie (Lang) McCarty; Sean and Michael Elder; P.J. (Lessenden), Kyle and Jeni McCarty; Eli and Audra (Shim) McCarty.    His father and mother, Reginald and Nada McCarty, and brothers Elwin McCarty and Lyle McCarty preceded him in death.

A memorial gathering was held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 in the Cantlon Otterness Funeral Chapel.  Cremation rites have been accorded under the direction of the Cantlon Otterness Funeral Home.  Condolences and online register book entries may be left at www.cantlonotterness.com
