Members of the Holly Commercial Club met in regular session for their monthly meeting, Wednesday, June 5 at the United Methodist Church. Discussion focused on preparations for the annual Bluegrass Festival including volunteer duties and which businesses will help supply meals. Contributions included preparations of 50 lbs of pulled pork by Tracie Kalma, Pearly Reyman and Kathie Leathers, Colorado East Bank & Trust employees provided and prepared the baked beans, Holly Nursing Care Center provided cookies, Ralph Plummer provided potato chips and Burger King provided drinks for the Friday night Jam Session.
New Business on the agenda focused on resurrecting some old ideas for Holly Days including the Holly Wog Walk/Run and locating it on the Walking Trail in town. A community wide water fight using balloons and water pistols was brought up as well. The ideas were taken under advisement for next year’s Holly Days Bluegrass event. Some other ideas for community activities included conducting the Holly Hock-it in the park, with booths set up for sellers or combine the Hock-it with the Bluegrass Festival.
Dana Barth of NRCS extended an invitation to the gathering for a free workshop on June 6 by Northeast Prowers Conservation District of Holly and Kiowa Conservation District of Eads on the topic of, “Managing for Touch Times, Preparing for Good Times.”
The Holly Commercial Club meets the first Wednesday of each month at Noon at the Holly Methodist Church. New member and interested citizens are welcome.
