Volunteers Needed to Produce 100,000 Life-Saving Meals

In April hundreds of Lamar community members will work to feed thousands of starving children in the developing world. Through a partnership between the Lamar Ministerial Alliance and Minnesota-based Feed My Starving Children, volunteers will prepare 100,000 life-saving meals. The event will take place April 18–20 at the Lamar Community Building (610 S. 6th Street, Lamar).
This will be the second time the Lamar Ministerial Alliance has hosted a MobileEvent. In 2010, 609 volunteers packed 106,920 meals. That was enough to feed 293 children for a year. It was decided that the weeks following Easter remain a good time to hold the event. The Ministerial Alliance hopes that by holding the event in April, schools might consider letting various classes and groups participate in the event, and use the experience as a teaching opportunity. It is also hoped that various groups within the community will consider making donations to support the event. Community members can support this event by making a donation or by volunteering to package food at the event.
