1st Annual Share the Spirit Photography Contest

The First Annual Share the Spirit Foundation Photography Contest will be held this February 22 through 24 at Amache Studio. This event will be held in conjunction with the High Plains Snow Goose Festival.  Here is the schedule and information for the public and the photographers .

FEBRUARY 17 – SUBMIT ENTRIES TO AMACHE STUDIO 1 – 4 pm

FEBRUARY 22 – SHOW OPEN TO PUBLIC & PHOTOGRAPHERS’ RECEPTION & AWARDS PRESENTATION 5:30 – 8 pm

FEBRUARY 23 – SHOW OPEN TO PUBLIC 10 am to 4 pm

FEBRUARY 24 – SHOW OPEN TO PUBLIC Noon to 3 pm – Pick up photos after 3 pm

JUDGE: RICHARD CROSSLEY is an internationally acclaimed birder, award winning author and photographer. Born in Yorkshire, England and self-employed in corporate America, in recent times he has turned his attention to books and the role of photography. Since the Shorebird Guide, Richard’s goal has been to make lifelike scenes that are more visually striking and educational. Please go to www.crossleybooks.com for more information.

SHOW TIMES: Friday, February 22, 5:30 to 8 pm; open to the public. Photographers’ reception and awards presentation. A delicious WINTER SOUP BAR will be served along with light refreshments at no charge. Public invited. Saturday, February 23, 10 – 4 pm; open to the public. Sunday, February 24, 1 – 3 pm; open to the public.

ELIGIBILITY: The show is open to the public, no limitations on age. Photographs must have been taken by the artist within the past year prior to the February 2013 contest. REGISTRATION & ENTRY: In-person submission of entries will be Sunday, February 17 from 1 – 4 p.m. at Amache Studio, Roads HH
and 34 ½, 8 miles west of Lamar, CO. Entry fee: $10 each; $25 for 3; additional entries $10 each. Proceeds from entry fees will be
split 50/50 between Share the Spirit Foundation and the High Plains Photography Club. All credit cards accepted.

REQUIREMENTS: Entries may be black and white or color. Entries may be digitally altered but must be derived from a photograph. Entries may be matted or unmated but must be framed. Each entry must have a STURDY WIRE HANGER on the back, no sawtooth hangers. NO EXCEPTIONS.

DELIVERY & PICK-UP: Entries should be delivered to Amache Studio on Saturday, February 16 from 1 – 4 pm. Entries should be picked up after the end of the show on Sunday, February 24 at 3 pm.

SALE OF PHOTOGRAPHS: Artists are encouraged to offer their entries for sale. A 20% commission of sale price will be collected by Amache Studio from all sales and donated to Share The Spirit Foundation. Payment to artists for works sold will be made at the end of the show. Sold works may be picked up at the end of the show.

CATEGORIES:
Juror’s Choice – $100 prize
2nd Place – $50 prize
3rd Place – $25 prize
Best of Show – $75 prize
People’s Choice – $50 prize

All juror’s awards will be presented on Friday evening. The People’s Choice award will be selected by the public (one vote per person attending the show). People’s Choice votes will be tallied after the show and the People’s Choice winner will be awarded on Sunday, February 24. All winners will be posted on the High Plains Photographers website.

At check-in, artists MUST:  Provide a list of entries showing artist’s name, title of entry and designate price or not-for-sale.  Tape the provided label to the back of each entry showing the title and artist’s name. Amache Studio will not be liable for damaged or stolen entries.
