Funeral services for longtime Las Animas resident, Lorena Bogner will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Friends Church in Las Animas, CO with Pastor Rod Coulter officiating. Burial will follow in the Fort Lyon National Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 23, 2013 from 1:00-7:00 p.m. at Horber Funeral Chapel.
Lorena Mae (Kerr) Bogner, 76, of Las Animas, Colorado passed away on Friday January 18, 2013 at the Bent County Nursing Service in Las Animas, Colorado
Lorena was born November 6, 1936 in Lamar, Colorado to Noel and Jewel (Jones) Kerr. She married Alvin Bogner on June 7, 1954, in Las Animas.
Lorena was a military wife during the Korean Conflict and moved back to Las Animas after her husband, Alvin was discharged. After returning to Las Animas she became a member of the ladies Auxiliary Post #2411.
Lorena worked a few places in her life such as JC Penny’s and Big R, but spent most of her life working at Winter Livestock. Lorena loved her job and being around people. She always had a smile for people around her. Along with her work she loved to watch and support her boys in their rodeo careers and anything else they pursued. She was always their biggest fan win lose or draw.
In her later years she spent countless hours chasing her grandkids at football games, wrestling matches, volleyball games, rodeo or anything else they were involved in. She also found herself chasing great grandkids not long after her grandkids started to slow down.
She is survived by her two sons, Alvin “Butch” (Becky) Bogner of Roberts, MT, and Jerry (Nancy) Bogner of Alamosa, CO; six sisters; two brothers; grandchildren, Misty (Don) Hall, Nicole (Bruce) Anderson, Jerome (Jamie) Bogner, Chris (Rachel) Bogner, Jessica Bogner, Sky (Tyson) Pharo ; 10 great grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Alvin; son, Charles Steven Bogner; four brothers; two sisters; and her parents, Noel and Jewel Kerr.
