Herbert H. Whiting…March 29, 1917 – January 1, 2013

Memorial services for Lamar, Colorado resident, Herbert Whiting, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel in Lamar.  Reverend Ian Blacker will officiate.  Per Herbert’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no public visitation.

 Herbert was born on March 29, 1917 to Herbert Sr. and Josephine (Bradshaw) Whiting in Sanford, Maine.  He passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at his home in Lamar. 

Mr. Whiting was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Honoria “Marie” Whiting in 2008; and seven brothers and sisters.

 Herbert is survived by two children, Pauline Opprecht and husband Neil of Seattle, WA and Ron Whiting and wife Randi Skiles of Ft. Oglethorpe, GA; sister, Avis Roy of South Gale, MI; brother, Milton Whiting and wife Dorothy of Whistler, MA.; six grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Herbert’s name to the Lamar Area Hospice in care of Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 950, Lamar, CO, 81052.
