Musical entertainment was an essential ingredient to this year’s Farm-City Banquet, sponsored by the Lamar Chamber of Commerce, held this past Friday, November 16, at the Lamar Community Building.
The “Dueling Pianos Road Show” held center stage, literally, at the LCB as the pianists, each armed with 88 keys on their twin pianos, played various favorites for the audience, explained the difference between a ‘request’ and a ‘suggestion’ when it came time for musical selections that translated to donations for Hospice, and started playing one section of the audience against the other in good-natured musical competition.
FFA students, outfitted in their distinctive blue jackets, acted again this year as cooks and servers for the evening buffet meal of roast pork, baked potatoes, vegetable medley and rolls, salad and cake. Prior to the meal, master of ceremonies, Pat Palmer, presented Beef Carcass awards to students and to the awards sponsors.
The Farm City Banquet also provides an opportunity to honor award-winning, area youngsters and their sponsors from this past summer’s Sand and Sage Fair livestock auction. The winners were:
Placing Exhibitor Buyer
1st Zane Tempel Tri-County Ford
2nd Brady Rink Valley National Bank
3rd Trevor Butler Milton Rink/Brase Ins
4th Joel Souders Zane Tempel Cattle
5th Tristen Travis Tempel Farms/Curtis Tempel
