Lamar Area Hospice was presented with a $10,000 check from Valley National Bank in Lamar today, October 23 at the new Hospice offices on West Olive Street. The presentation was made by Denise Carder to Lamar Hospice Executive Director, Deb Pelley, with Tammie Clark, RN, DON and Jo Dell Rogers of Hospice. Pelley said the funds will be put towards the Hospice Capital Improvement fund.
In addition to the cash contribution from Valley National Bank, Carder said the bank also donated several rooms of office furniture from Main Street branch which closed its operations this past summer when the bank consolidated to one location on South 4th Street in Lamar. Several dozen chairs and meeting tables, along with pictures and wall decorations were included in the donation.
Pelley said all the furniture has been put to immediate use, filling the need for the three floors of the new facility which will celebrate its grand opening this Saturday, October 27, starting with a ribbon cutting at 10am at 108 West Olive Street. The winner of the vintage 1966 Ford Mustang will also be drawn at that time. The public is invited to take a self-guided tour of the new facility which will serve the needs of Hospice patients from around the region.
