Letter to the Editor: 14U Host Family Thanks

I just wanted you to know, as the coordinator of housing for the 14U
Regional Babe Ruth tournament, how well my son got along with his host parents while in Lamar.  Gene and Sharon Cruikshank were the nicest, most accommodating and friendly hosts that we could have asked for.  My son, Ryan Swanson, a player from the Iowa team, told me how they went out oftheir way to make his stay as comfortable as they could.  I know that getting housing for these teams has got to be one of hardest things to do and to ask for from the citizens of Lamar. Please know, as parents we are grateful to those families.

I also know that Gene and Sharon were doing this because someone opened their home to Gene and Sharon’s son when he was involved with Babe Ruth. It was comforting to know that our players were in a home that was safe and loving. 

I also want to tell the other parents that hosted and opened their homes to the rest of our Iowa players THANK YOU.  They were also very friendly and went out of their way to invite the whole Iowa team into their homes. 

Again, thank you for your time. If you could pass this on to those involved with the tournament and host families that we appreciate their efforts! This experience will always be a great memory for our team and our families.
