The new season begins August 16 for the Lamar School District, and the RE-2 board of directors will hold their monthly meeting on Monday, August 13. Some items will focus on the new year including approval for several from the Consent Agenda: the fuel bid for 2-12-2013, Student Handbooks for Parkview Elementary and Middle Schools, the Revised School Calendar, purchase of a Scissor Lift from Rancher’s Supply and Selling the Teen Center on East Elm Street now that the Center has relocated to Lincoln Elementary.
The board will deal with over 70 policy revisions, including those from First and Second Readings. Some of the subjects include: Political Guidelines, Homebound Instruction, Tobacco-Free Schools, Curriculum Review, Truancy, Educational Alternatives for Expelled Students, Expulsion Prevention, Equal Educational Opportunities and Admission of Non-immigrant Foreign Students.
Several personnel actions will deal with resignations, transfers and hiring of teacher’s aides and assistants. The board will also take up approval of the Substitute Teacher and Classified Substitute List.
The school board meeting begins at 6:30pm at the West Pearl administration building. This will mark the start of the new, four-day school week, approved by the school board at the end of the 2011-2012 school year.
