Kid’s Day Draws a Crowd at the Sand & Sage Fair

Fun for Kids of All Ages at the Fair

There was no lack of fun activities at the Prowers County Fairgrounds for Kid’s Day on Wednesday, August 8.  The Fair Board developed the idea several years ago, to give the kids in town a chance to do fun things without breaking their piggy bank.  Lots of civic organizations have pitched in over the years, contributing ideas, time and effort so kids could have some low cost fun doing simple activities.

Crawling for Adventure

Activities were held between the Centennial Building and the fairgrounds arena from 9am to Noon, and there was a special free lunch for kids 12 and under.

Crabtree Amusements is Set to Go

When kids weren’t trying their hands at simple games of skill, they could check out some of the market animals that were being set up for display under the pavilion.  Crabtree Amusements had scheduled some special prices on the rides that afternoon between 11am and 3pm.

The day was capped with a Pizza Fest from 5pm to 7pm, sponsored by Little Caesar’s and ghost stories and some smores rounded out the evening.  Area residents also took advantage of some of the rides and games set up by Crabtree Amusements through the evening hours.

Am I Flapping Flipjacks or is it the Other Way Around?

Those will early appetites stopped by the fairgrounds on Thursday morning as the Lamar FFA members, under the direction of Charity Stocking, tried their hand at flipping flapjacks and sizzling sausages for the morning crowd.  Another breakfast is set for the Home Ec Building between 6am and 9am on Friday.
