Just One Day

Second Chance Animal Rescue is participating in the National Campaign “Just One Day” event on Monday, June 11, promoting shelters across the nation TO SUSPEND EUTHANASIA FOR ONE DAY –

“To most people, June 11 is Just One Day. But, June 11 is a day that could change everything for 10,411 companion animals, and a day that can change the world. On June 11, 2012, we could be a No Kill nation.”

As supporters of a movement to convert the United States to a “no-kill” nation Second Chance has joined with thousands of rescues and shelters across the nation to promote suspending all euthanasia Monday, June 11th. Over 10,000 animals will be spared if euthanasia is suspended for one just ONE day in animal shelters across the United States.

Many shelters struggle with overcrowding and difficulty with finding foster and adoptive families, including our own local shelters in Lamar, Las Animas, La Junta, Springfield and Rockyford. Second Chance Animal Rescue and other dedicated animal rescue groups work shoulder to shoulder with these shelters to find adoptive and foster homes for the literally thousands of dogs that come into these shelters. Animal shelters across the USA have taken a pledge not to kill any savable animals on June 11, 2012… For Just One Day, June 11, 2012, they will market their animals to the public, they will reach out to rescue groups, they will host adoption events with discounted rates, they will stay open for extended hours, and they will ask their communities to help them empty the shelter the good way.

Second Chance is sponsoring an adoption day in Colorado Springs Saturday June 9, and will donate half the proceeds from this adoption fair to promote a NO KILL NATION.
