City Posts Monthly Sales Tax Gain

Sales tax collections for April, 2012 indicated another straight month in the plus column for the City of Lamar. City Sales Tax collected for April was up 3.17 and Total Sales and Use Tax Collections were up 8.42% over last year for a gain of $20,761.91.
Year-to-Date tax revenue figures show City Sales Tax up 4.08% and total tax collections from January through May are up 5.28% for a gain over 2011 of $71,525.06. Total collections for the year are at $1,426,712.76 compared to 2011 of $1,355,187.70.
The twelve retail sales categories for taxes collected in May 2012 compared to May 2011 shows most figures steady with last year although Auto Parts, Motels and Building Materials showed gains; Restaurants and Grocery Stores posted a minor drop. The following is a Year to Date for taxes collected from 2010.
