Lamar Sales Tax Revenues Continue to Improve

Lamar City Sales Tax revenues continue to climb, this month showing a healthy 11.26% gain for Total Sales and Use Tax Collections for this past March. City Sales Tax increased 6.13% for a $15,854.91 gain, comparing 2011 to 2012 and the combined taxes increased $31,542.36 over the same period.
Year-to-Date collections were up 4.28% for City Sales Tax for an improvement of $43,558.72 and Total Sales and Use Tax Collections were up 4.58% for March, showing an increase of $50,763.15 for that period.
With only two exceptions, the 12 Retail Sales tax revenue categories showed gains in a year to date comparison. Only furniture stores and grocery store tax revenue indicated a drop, with groceries showing a significant dollar fluctuation over the past three years.
