News Release – 2012 DEKALB Agricultural Accomplishment Award

Lamar, CO – Austin Peck of Lamar High School was recently presented the school’s highest agricultural honor, the DEKALB Agricultural Accomplishment Award, sponsored by Monsanto Company.

Peck, the son of Tony and Janet Peck, received the award for excellence in academics, leadership and agricultural work experience. Peck’s significant experiences and accomplishments have included:

• FFA Farm Business Management Team – District 1st Place Team

• FFA Farm Business Management Southeast District High Individual

• FFA Ag Mechanics Team – District 1st Place Team, 2 years

• FFA Ag Mechanics Southeast District High Individual

• State “Silver” in Ag Mechanics

• Proficiency Award Winner in Goat Production and Placement in Farm Production

• $500 Scholarship Winner at Tulsa Welding Competition

• FFA Offices: District Treasurer, Chapter Sentinel and President

• FFA State Degree Recipient

Charity Stocking and Cliff Marts are Peck’s agricultural education instructor at Lamar High School.

This year the DEKALB Agricultural Accomplishment Award celebrates its 65th anniversary. Over these 65 years more than 168,000 high school seniors from across the country have received the Award, which has become a symbol for excellence and the school’s highest agricultural honor. In 2011, nearly 2,000 students from high schools in 49 of the 50 states were recognized with the Award.

As the winner of the 2012 Award, Austin’s name will be recorded on a permanent plaque displayed at Lamar High School.
