A Memorial Service for Folsom, CA. resident and former Lamar/Wiley resident Thomas “Tom” Schroeder will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday April 3, 2012 at Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel in Lamar, CO. His cremains will be interned later that day at the Wiley Cemetery adjoining his father’s grave. Reverend Ramon Robledo will officiate.
Tom is survived by his loving wife Carla Schroeder of El Dorado Hills, CA.; by daughters Stephanie (Rudy) Esparza of El Dorado Hills, CA. and Sheri Schroeder of Sacramento, CA.; by grandsons Troy Thomas Esparza and Dominic Esparza of El Dorado Hills, CA.; by sisters Martha Schneider of Lamar, CO.; Cheryl (Don) Yoxsimer of Lamar, CO.; and Debra (Chuck) Babcock of Lamar, CO.; by brothers Dewayne (Gayle) Schroeder of Lamar, CO.; Kent (Susan) Fisher of Lamar, CO.; and Tim (Chandra) Fisher of Enid, OK.; Also surviving are numerous other relatives, and a host of friends.
Tom was born in Lamar, Colorado on September 13, 1942 to his parents William Schroeder and Francis Fisher (both deceased.) Tom departed life on December 21, 2010 in Folsom, California at the age of 68 after an extended illness.
Tom attended schools in the Wiley-Lamar area and graduated from Lamar Union High School in 1960. He entered the U.S. Navy proudly serving for 7 years seeing service on nuclear submarines. After honorable discharge he began a career at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories. He met and married Carla Sapp, his wife of 41 years, and raised their family in Livermore, California. He enjoyed coaching his daughters; youth sports. He was an active member of the Livermore Coin Club and would help any friends and family that needed him. He retired after 33 years at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories as a Facility Operations and Maintenance Manager.
He will forever be loved, missed and remembered by his wife, daughters, grandchildren, and all that knew him.
