Lamar School District Nominated to Apply for 25K Grant

We have been nominated to apply for a grant of up to $25000 through the America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education initiative!

This program is a locally focused initiative to strengthen math and science education in rural America. It is sponsored by the Monsanto fund and allows farmers to nominate a public school to compete for a grant of either $10000 or $25000. One $25000 grant will be awarded in the state of Colorado.

In order to vote for Lamar School District – Entrants must be 21 years or older and actively engaged in farming of 250 acres of corn, soybeans and/or cotton; or 40 acres of open field vegetables (as defined above); or 10 acres of tomatoes, peppers and/or cucumbers grown in protected culture (glasshouse, nethouse, plastic). Entrants are limited to one nomination per qualified person (regardless of the form of entry). A farmer is “actively engaged in farming if he or she performs the work, or hires and actively manages others who do so.

Program Entry Period:

Nomination entries for this program must be received between 12:00:01 a.m. Central Time on January 6, 2012, and 11:59:59 p.m. Central Time on April 15, 2012 (the “Program Entry Period).

How to Nominate a School District:

No purchase necessary to enter. There are two ways to enter this program, as described below. Entries may only be made according to the procedures described in these Official Rules.

A. To enter the program online, visit GrowRuralEducation.com and submit an entry during the Program Entry Period. All entrants are required to complete all required registration information (including, without limitation, your name, address and other contact information). All entries must be completed within the Program Entry Period for the nominee (school district) to be eligible to participate in the program. All submissions become the property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned.

B. To enter the program by mail, please call 1-877-267-3332 or go to GrowRuralEducation.com to print out the official rules and nomination form. Once completed, please mail to America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education, 914 Spruce St., St. Louis, MO 63102 during the Program Entry Period. Entries must be postmarked within the Program Entry Period and must be received by the Sponsor by April 15, 2012. Entries postmarked after April 15, 2012 will not be accepted. Limit one entry per envelope. All submissions become the property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned.

C. Entries that do not comply with these Official Rules will be disqualified. The Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any entry at any time which, in its opinion, is offensive, contains unsuitable material, threatens the safety or well-being of any entrant, or if it is determined that the entrant has not complied with these Official Rules. Limit one entry per person, regardless of method of entry. Entries in excess of this limit are void. To be valid, each entry must provide all information requested.

Grant Recipients:

Grants will be awarded based on merit, need and community support. The merit component of the score will be based on the overall effect of the school district’s proposed use of the grant, the need component of the score will be based on the school district’s and community’s current financial status and the need for additional funding, and the community support component of the score will be based on the number of farmers who nominate a school district. The more farmers to nominate a school district, the more it demonstrates community support and strengthens their application. One nomination is allowed per farmer. School districts and nominating farmers will be notified by September 30, 2012 regarding which school districts have been awarded grants.
