Joseph Herrera…October 29, 1924 – February 13, 2012

A Funeral Mass for lifelong Lamar resident, Joseph Herrera, affectionately known to his family and friends as Joe will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at St. Francis de Sales/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Reverend Charlie Sena as Celebrant.

The Rite of Committal will follow at Fairmount Cemetery. 

An evening Rosary Service will be held at 6:00PM, Monday, February 20, 2012 also at the church with Deacon Allan Medina reciting. 

Visitation for Joe will be held from 1:00PM to 4:00PM, Monday, February 20, 2012 at the Peacock Funeral Home. 

Joe was born on October 29, 1924 to Jesus and Maria (Garnica) Herrera and passed away following a sudden illness at the Denver Health Medical Center on February 13, 2012 at the age 87. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, son Mike Herrera, and his brothers; Manuel Herrera, John Herrera and Jesus “Jess” Herrera. 

Joe is survived by his wife of 65 years; Flora Herrera of the family home in Lamar. His children; Maria (Eufelio) Muniz of Pueblo, Jesse Herrera of Lamar, Esther (Joe) Urioste of Pueblo, Daniel Herrera and Carlos Herrera both of Lamar. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, sisters; Dolores Vargas, Mary Ramos both of Lamar, brothers; Salvador Herrera of Pueblo and Antonio (Anna) Herrera of Lamar, sisters-in-law; Bertha Herrera of Victorville, California, Alfonsa Herrera and Minnie Herrera of Lamar.
