Velma H. Hanagan…February 26, 1918 – January 14, 2012

A Mass of Christian burial for Canon City, Colorado resident and former longtime Lamar resident, Velma H. Hanagan, will be held at 10:00 AM Monday January 23, 2012 at St. Francis de Sales/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Lamar.  Reverend Charles Sena will be the celebrant.  Burial for Velma will be held at 2:00 PM Monday January 23, 2012 at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Rocky Ford, Colorado; Deacon Terry Marinelli will conduct the graveside rite of committal. 

A rosary service will be held at 9:30 AM Monday January 23, 2012 also at St. Francis de Sales/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Lamar.  Per Velma’s request there will be no public visitation. 

Mrs. Hanagan was born on February 26, 1918 in Rocky Ford, Colorado to Claude L and Iva L. (Davis) Butler and departed this life on Saturday January 14, 2012 at The Legacy in Canon City, Colorado with her family by her side at the age of 93. 

Velma was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband – James C. Hanagan; and by one brother – Howard Butler.

Velma is survived by three daughters – Jane Eckland of Pueblo; Joyce (Eric Saffell) Hanagan of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Joan (Marc) Sindler of Canon City, Colorado; by six grandchildren; and by three great grandchildren; also surviving are numerous friends. 

Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Fremont Regional Hospice or to the Lamar Senior Center either directly or through the funeral home office.
