Nominations Open for Lamar Chamber Citizen of the Year

One week remains for those area residents wishing to nominate a deserving citizen for the Lamar Chamber Citizen of the Year award. The deadline for entries to the Chamber office is Noon, Tuesday, January 10. The Chamber has set these criteria for a nomination and should be outlined in the nominating letter/form.
Purpose – The award is intended to honor a person that makes a substantial contribution to the Prowers County area. As a result of the nominee’s effort, the community should have received substantial benefits and become a better place to live and work.
Leadership – Nominees must have exhibited leadership in community projects and have completed them successfully.
Community Involvement – Nominees should be involved in the betterment of the community, through active civic participation. Their involvement may be in health or human services, education, recreation, arts or cultural improvement, economic development, or community-based organizations which contribute to the quality of life in our community. As a result of this involvement, nominees should have specific and noteworthy accomplishments.
Cooperation and Support – Nominees must have demonstrated willingness to assist in business and community projects by participating personally in projects or events that have resulted in substantial betterment of the community.

Include as much material to support your nomination as desired. Please list the name of whom to contact if more information is needed. Nominations will be accepted by anyone in the community. All nominations must be submitted in a sealed envelope. The recipient of the award will be announced at the Lamar Chamber’s Annual Meeting on January 26, 2012 at the Cow Palace Inn.
