Southeast Area—The Southeast Area Extension has officially kicked off the holiday season with their first Christmas Treats and Treasures workshop. Kaye Kasza and Lacey Mann hosted the first day in Las Animas and the reviews are in, it was fun, tasty and participants are ready to do it again. There are two more opportunities available to attend the workshop; Monday, December 19 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the McClave Methodist Church in McClave and Tuesday, December 20 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Sand and Sage Fairgrounds in the Home Economics building.
Youth, ages five and above, will learn how to make tasty treats, build festive decorations, search for a traditional yule log and sip warm cider.
“We want to offer an opportunity for our area youth to learn how to design and create family friendly decorations and Christmas recipes which they may take home and recreate with their entire family,” Lacey Mann, CSU Extension, says. “The treats the youth will make are affordable to replicate at home and it provides an opportunity for the whole family to be together.”
Registration is $5 per person and includes all recipe and decoration supplies. Please call the Prowers or Bent County Extension offices to reserve your spot today, (719) 336-7734 or (719) 456-0764.
