Members of the Xi PI Sorority raised $400 last Saturday, October 29, in a Spooktacular Sprint at Willow Creek Park. Members donned Halloween costumes to promote the event.
Best Costume went to the Vallejos family who were dressed as Dr. Suess characters, including The Cat in the Hat, and they received one of the prizes donated by Play Clay. Other prizes were randomly drawn from the registration. First finisher was Jon Adams; Second was Bryce Hiigel and Third was Nancy Magallanes.
The funds will provide gift baskets for need families during the holidays. Gift bags were given to all the children from their Dental Program Fund which helps pay for dental work for children of familys with no dental insurance and qualify under their income guidelines. Prizes for the Sprint were donated by Chez DuVall’s Restaurant, J & N Shoes, The Lamar Recreation Department and Play Clay.
The remainder of the children gift bats were distributed at the Trick or Treat Street that MOPS put on Halloween night at the Lamar Community Building.
Thanks to Xi Pi and to Aarin Ritter for the information.
