Slight Gain on Lamar City Sales Tax

City Sales tax revenues, YTD for January thru August of this year increased 2.52% for an increase of $53,120.74. July Sales and Use Tax showed only a 0.01% increase for a gain of $29.51. July, 2011 city sales tax was up 1.54%, but Use Tax and Other Collections were down 13.58% and 13.15% respectively.

Lamar City Treasurer Linda Rolhman noted that those persons wishing to see the revenue gain that would be attributable from the August softball world series games would have to wait one more month, at least. “The figures we’re showing in this month’s report are for the July collections, so there will be a delay before those figures can be analyzed,” she said. YTD Sales and Use Tax collections for 2010 are $2,109,489.60 and $2,162,610.34 for 2011.

Overall, the YTD tax comparisons for the 12 Retail Sales categories showed an almost across the board increase over the year before.
