A mass of Christian Burial for Lamar, Colorado resident Henio M. Montez will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday September 28, 2011 at St. Francis de Sales/ Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Lamar, Colorado. Father Damasus Okoro will officiate the mass and burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in Lamar.
A Rosary/Scripture service, led by Deacon Henry Wertin will be held prior to the mass, at 9:30 A.M. Wednesday September 28, 2011, also at St. Francis de Sales/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Lamar.
Mr. Montez was born on November 6, 1927 at Monte Vista, CO. and departed this life on Thursday September 22, 2011 at Prowers Medical Center in Lamar at the age of 83.
Visitation for Henio will be held from 9:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday September 22, 2011 at Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel in Lamar and prior to the Rosary and Mass on Wednesday at the church.
Mr. Montez was preceded in death by his parents Margarita Martinez-Montez and Clemente Montez of Salt Lake City, UT.; by a son Henio Montez, Jr. of Lamar, CO.; by a step brother Carmelo Duran of Lamar, CO.; and by step sisters Rita Adame, Patsy Adame, Cora Arreguin, and Pauline Adame , all of California, and Betty Montez of Salt Lake City, UT.
Henio is survived by his wife Mary Montez of their home in Lamar; by five children Richard (Rosa) Montez of Tacoma,WA., Robert (Carolyn) Montez of Wiley, CO., Rose Eye of Lamar, CO., Sally Smith of Burlington, CO., and Dee Ann Trujillo of Lamar, CO.; by eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one sister Lucy Hernandez of Denver, CO.;a step brother Albert Adame of Lamar, CO.; and by a step sister Loisa Adame of Lamar, CO.; also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and a host of friends.
