Louis R. Campbell – March 19, 1918 – August 11, 2011

 

A Celebration of Life for former longtime Lamar resident, educator and principal of the Lamar Junior High School from 1955 to 1980, Louis “Lou” Campbell will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 16 at the United Methodist Church of Lamar, with Reverend Ramon Robledo officiating.  Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery, Lamar, Colorado. 

Lou was born on March 19, 1918 in Walsenburg, Colorado to Thomas Campbell and Jane Murray Campbell and passed away on August 11, 2011 at the Applewood Living Center in Longmont, Colorado at the age of 93.

Preceding him in death are his wife on December 25, 2010 and a brother Leonard “Soup’ Campbell.

Surviving Lou are his daughter LouAnn (Steve) Gorenstein of Longmont; a son Thomas Scott (Karen) Campbell of Johnstown; 7 grandchildren: Annie and Marc Gorenstein, Kathy, Scott, Kelly, Misty and Robert Campbell and Daniel, Cameron and Bradon Hurd; and 9 great grandchildren as well as numerous friends in Longmont and Lamar.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lamar United Methodist Church direct or in care of the Peacock Funeral Home.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Howe Mortuary  and the Peacock Funeral Home.
