D. Gene Gant – July 19, 1939 – August 15, 2011

 

              A mass of Christian Burial for Lamar, CO. resident D. Gene Gant will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday August 20, 2011 at St. Francis de Sales/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church  in Lamar, Colorado. Father Damasus Okoro will officiate the mass and gravesite in-urnment will follow in the Veterans Section of Fairmount Cemetery, Lamar. Full military honors will be bestowed by the Lamar V.F.W. Post #3621 and the Lamar American Legion Post #71.

      A Rosary/ Scripture Service for Gene, led by Deacon Henry Wertin, will be held at 7:00 P.M. Friday August 19, 2011, also at St. Francis de/Sales Our Lady of Guadalupe  Church in Lamar.

      Per Gene’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no public visitation.

     Mr. Gant was born on July 19, 1939 at Fairplay, Colorado and departed this life unexpectedly on Monday August 15, 2011 at his home in Lamar at the age of 72.

      Gene was preceded in death by his father Irvin Gant of Sedalia, MO.; by his mother Leta Harris of Raytown, MO.; by his step father John Harris of Raytown, MO.; by one daughter Deborah Irey of Ft. Morgan, CO.; and by one granddaughter Desiree Gant of Orange County, CA.

     He is survived by his wife Eileen Gant of their home in Lamar, CO.; by three children Bambi (Allen) Beard of Oklahoma City, OK. ,Dale (Sara) Gant of Jacksonville, N. Carolina, and Randy (Peggy) Gant of Oklahoma City, OK.; by eight grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; by one sister Connie (Charles) Schwindt of Covington, KY.; by three brothers Ray (Nancy) Gant of Bozeman, Montana, Gordon (Debbie) Harris of Kansas City, MO., and Ron Gant of California. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many many friends.
