Theda A. Melton – September 23, 1917 – July 21, 2011

A Celebration of Life for former longtime Lamar resident, currently of Colorado Springs, Theda A. Melton will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at the Peacock Funeral Home with Ian Blacker of the Lamar Christian Church officiating. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery.
 
Per Theda’s request there will be no public viewing. 
 
Mrs. Melton was born on September 23, 1917 at Deerhead, Kansas to Fred and Inez (Hildebrand) Carr and passed away on July 21, 2011 at Colorado Springs, Colorado at the age of 93.
 
She is preceded in death by her first husband; John A. Simmons, second husband; Hershel C. Melton, daughter Karen Cook, her brother Wendall Carr and her parents.
 
Theda is survived by her children; Dale (Frances) Simmons of Hartman, Robert (Mary Rita) Simmons of Lamar and Ginger (Andy) Pittman of Green Mountain Falls, CO. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Denise Woodward, Dennis Simmons, Dean Simmons, Donna Woodward, Julie Simmons, Carol Pilcher, Ryan Whisenand and Regina Kristens, as well as 10 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
 
 
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lamar Area Hospice either direct or in care of the funeral home office.
