Lamar, CO – Parker Wurst of Lamar High School was recently presented the school’s highest agricultural honor, the DEKALB Agricultural Accomplishment Award, sponsored by Monsanto Company.

Wurst, the son of Brian and Bev Wurst, received the award for excellence in academics, leadership and agricultural work experience. Wurst’s significant experiences and accomplishments have included

  • Principal’s Honor Roll – 3 Years – Assistant Principal’s Honor Roll – 1 Year – National Honor Society .
  • FFA Parliamentarian – Sophomore Year – FFA Vice President – Junior Year – FFA President – Senior Year.
  • 2008 Lamar FFA Star Greenhand Award – 2009 Lamar FFA Star Chapter Farmer – 2010 State FFA Degree Recipient.
  • Reining at the IKE Youth Circuit Champion – National Reining Horse Youth Association Member – 3 Years.
  • Charity Stocking is Wurst’s agricultural education instructor at Lamar High School.

 

This year the DEKALB Agricultural Accomplishment Award celebrates its 64th anniversary. Over these 64 years more than 164,000 high school seniors from across the country have received the Award, which has become a symbol for excellence and the school’s highest agricultural honor. In 2009, nearly 2,000 students from high schools in 49 of the 50 states were recognized with the Award.

As the winner of the 2011 Award, Wurst’s name will be recorded on a permanent plaque displayed at Lamar High School.
