Tecklenburg Selected as Interim Superintendent

Lamar Middle School principal David Tecklenburg was chosen today, April 15, as the interim superintendent for the Lamar RE-2 school district. The announcement was made by Ron Peterson, president of the Lamar School board during a special session Friday afternoon. Tecklenburg replaces David Soper who resigned from the position Thursday afternoon, following an executive meeting with the school board.

Tecklenburg has had ties to the Lamar community for several years and was a strong candidate for the superintendent’s position last summer, following the retirement of Dr. Wayne Graybeal. Tecklenburg has coached high school volleyball for the past several years.

School board director Medina asked if a salary had been negotiated at this time and Peterson replied that it would be done on Monday. Peterson also offered an apology to school staff in attendance at the afternoon meeting, regarding an email that had been circulated to some or all members. There were no specifics as to the content or sender of the message.
