Voces Unidas Expanding Scholarship Offers

Voces Unidas in Lamar has planned several scholarship fund-raising events, including sale of red roses in time for Mother’s Day this year, May 8.

Voces Unidas members will hand-deliver a rose to your mother on Friday, May 6 for a $5 fee, including the rose from Flower Boutique in Lamar. April 25 is the deadline to place your order.

Vendor space is still available for the annual Cinco de Mayo celebration, set for May 7 at the North Side Park. The cost is $35 for a booth without an electrical hook-up and $40 with electricity. There is no charge for non-profit organizations, but booth space is on a first-come, first-served basis. This year, Voces Unidas will offer two, $750 scholarships. One will be awarded to a student who plans to attend Lamar Community College; the other for a student attending Otero Junior College. A $500 scholarship will also be awarded for general college expenses, not binding to a specific college. High school counselors will have the application forms.
