Two new PATS, Prowers Area Transit Service vehicles, were unveiled to the local public during the Lamar Days Parade, Saturday, May 16.  Darren Glover, PATS Director remarked this past fall, with the anticipated arrival of the two, new vehicles, the county could sponsor a program to create some fitting artwork for the buses.

“We had sixty entrees,” he said, adding that all of them were unique and the PATS staff appreciated the effort that went into the presentations.  The contest was open to all ages for Prowers County residents.  The PATS Advisory Board selected Jillian Martinez’s entry which will be displayed for the life of the vehicle.  Martinez is an employee of Frontier Bank in Lamar.  Robinson Printing and Extreme Graphics of Lamar fitted the designs to the busses.

“I just thought we need to have all the towns in Prowers County, so everyone would know that PATS served the entire county, not just Lamar, said Martinez.   “We’re here, to get you there,” is the theme she developed for the logo for the two new buses that are now in service.

Glover said there’s more room for sponsors to the rear of the bus, to go with other local businesses that have helped fund the new logos.  One bus will be put up for sale, he said, and the other will be a backup bus.  He spent a few moments with Deanne Tyner, the former PATS director for many years, who was on hand for the dedication and small ceremony recognizing Martinez for her logo contribution.  Members of the PATS Authority Board, Trevor LaCost and Kirk Crespin, were also present for the presentation of the two buses into service for Prowers County.

Area residents dropped by the PATS headquarters, at the SOS Center at 407 East Olive, to view the displays and the ‘new’ look for Prowers Area Transit Service.  PATS has been providing transit service to Prowers County residents since 1998.
