Jeanie was born on July 27, 1931 to Albert and Frances (Wade) Wiley in Paonia, Colorado. She passed away on May 19, 2015 in Holly, Colorado at the age of 83.  She was the third child born to Albert and Frances.  Jeanie was a coal miner’s daughter.  Her father was transferred to Dragerton, Utah which is now known as East Carbon, Utah.  She attended her junior year at Price, Utah and then returned back to Paonia to graduate in 1949.

Jeanie attended one year of school at Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado where she met Maynard “Junior” McCormick.  They were united in marriage on March 25, 1951 in the Episcopal Church in Gunnison.  To this union, there were two sons, Marvin and Grant.

They lived in Canon City, Colorado for three years where Junior had been employed.  They then moved south of Holly to farm with Junior’s parents.  They later formed the partnership of McCormick and McCormick.  The 1965 flood took a devastating toll on the farm but they continued farming until 1985 when the farm was sold.

While on the farm Jeanie kept the cattle records and registered the cattle.  She also did the bookkeeping for the partnership as well as cooked for the hired men when needed.  Jeanie enjoyed playing bridge and bowling as well as activities at the Senior Center.  Jeanie kept busy by keeping and playing with her five grandsons.

On April 11, 1954, Jeanie was baptized and became a member of the Methodist Church.  She was a member of the Mizpah Rebekah Lodge 97 for close to 27 years as well as worked on various committees in the Church.

Jeanie is survived by one son, Marvin McCormick; five grandsons, Chris and wife, Athena, Nick; Tim “T”, Greg, and Tyson; daughter-in-law, Norma McCormick; four great grandchildren, Wiley, Raigen, Mason Grant, and Ashlynn; sister-in-laws, Ahlean Wiley and Jane Wiley; many nieces, nephews, and other family as well as a host of friends.

Wiley and Dr. Hugh Wiley; sister, Albertha Emmons; brother-in-law, Richard “Dick” McCormick; and her in-laws, Chuck and Ruth McCormick.
