Hershel Lynn Hale…December 17, 1939 – January 15, 2013

Funeral services for Hershel Lynn Hale will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 21, 2013 at Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel in Lamar, CO.  Rev. Ray Matteson will officiate.  Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery.  Visitation for Lynn will be from 1:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 20, 2013 with family present from 3:00-7:00.

Hershel Lynn Hale was born December 17, 1939 to Hershel and Madeline (Murphy) Hale in Tyrone, Pennsylvania. Lynn went to heaven on the evening of January 15, 2013 at Parkview Hospital in Pueblo, CO at the age of 73.  He graduated high school at the age of 17 and enlisted in the Air Force.  Lynn had a dream of becoming a pilot, but due to a childhood accident he was not able to, so he became a door gunner on helicopters during the period working up to Vietnam.  After Vietnam he attended Penn State University and received an accounting degree that he utilized throughout his career.  He married Linda (Piatt) McCaslin on May 31, 1985 bringing together a family of four sons and one daughter.  Known as the “Old Man” within the family, Lynn was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Lynn is preceded in death by his parents, Hershel and Madeline Hale.

He is survived by his wife, Linda of the home; sons, Brad McCaslin and wife Jamie of Eagle Nest, NM, Robby McCaslin of Denver, CO, Sean Hale and wife Gina of Ft. Worth, TX, Christopher Hale of Whitefish, MT; daughter, Jaqueline Partner and husband Raphael; brother, Lane Hale of Altoona, PA; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends.
